The Great Forest is a region in Sivania in which the quest A Dryad's Distress is played. A player must free the bound Dryad from the bond of the cultists surrounding her. They then enter the dead part of the forest through a portal and try to protect the Dryad while she restores the trees to their previous and preliminary glory. Simultaneously, the player must track down the dark presence the Dryad mentions in the following passage of quotes.
"The sands of time are flowing. And well, you are not aging very gracefully."
"I'm glad you made it. As you can see this part of the forest is dead. This is the work of the wizard who sent those men after me. A few weeks ago, I arrived in Sivania to visit some good friends in the nearby tree village. When I arrived, everyone was weak and dying. It wasn't just the villagers, but the forest around them. As if they were struck by a blight."
"I travelled through the forest to a neighboring tree village… that is where we stand, now, and you see exactly what I found. This forest is dying, and it is not a natural death. I have investigated this for the past couple of weeks, and I am certain that this is the result of some insane attempts to bring corruption to Sivania. This was the first failed test. The results were that the forest died. I believe my friends in the other forest are the second attempt."
"As I continued my investigation, I was approached by a hooded figure, warning me to leave the forest. I tried to explain that the forest was in danger, and that I was working to revive it, but the man simply said 'if you do not leave the forest, my master demands that the same fate befalls you.' He vanished shortly after. The men who attacked me wore the same garments, and I know their 'master' is behind all of this."
"I want to purge my friends of the corruption, but it is too dangerous to test how my magic will react with the curse, while they are still alive. I may in fact make things worse. So, I have decided to come here, and attempt to restore life to the forest. The trees and their inhabitants share a link. The life of one affects the life of the other. If I can revive the forest here, I know I can cure from my friends."
"Although I ensured we weren't followed, I sense a dark presence still within this part of the forest. Please protect me as I try to restore the trees."
"I'm going to begin the ritual. If it attracts unwanted visitors, please fight them off."
After this a text will appear at the bottom of the screen saying, "Enemies are approaching. If you go past the runestones you will have to restart the battle." One of the cultists will say "Tim knew you would return here. We have been waiting for you." A recommended strategy for fighting the Corrupt Archers is ranged damage. Melee damage will not solve the problem very well. As you continue the battle, more quotes will continue to show up above the archers. Eventually, a quote will show above the Dryad saying, "Thank you, but I cannot pause the ritual. There may be more. Be ready!" Basically, meaning a Wave 2 of the quest. This time, instead of Corrupt Archers, there are Corrupt Mages, quotes appearing above the first two saying, "Tim WILL bring our God to this world, and when he does, all life will perish!" The other saying, "You will not undo our master's work." Corrupt Mages fire Chaos Balls, similar to Goblin Sorcerers of the Goblin Army. After the second wave, two quotes appear above the Dryad saying, "The ritual is nearly complete!" and "Please deal with this monster!" A responsive quote will appear above another mage saying, "Our master thinks of you a real monster." The monster is a Corruptor. After that, the wave ends and the attempt fails but the player is rewarded with a magic leaf.
